The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Everything is possible with God. This comforts us as we truly look to Him for our strength and encouragement along our spiritual journey. My sister and her husband tried to have a child for years, but she could not get pregnant. But in answer to prayer, she had one child and then another. What was impossible with man was possible with God. When those moments of life happen, we see the hand of God with our own eyes and realize the majesty and grace of our Heavenly Father.

Coming to Faith is Only Possible with God

As human beings, we can witness to people about Jesus and pray for receptive hearts for faith. But only God can call people to faith. That is only possible because of the work of Jesus on the cross. 1 Corinthians 3: I (Paul) planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.[1]

The God of the Impossible

The rich young ruler walked away when Jesus told him to sell all he had and come and follow Him. Then the disciples asked Jesus how anyone could receive salvation. Mark 10:23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God!” 24 This amazed them. But Jesus said again, “Dear children, it is very hard to enter the Kingdom of God. 25 In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!” 26 The disciples were astounded. “Then who in the world can be saved?” they asked. 27 Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.” [2]

Not in Our Strength, but in God’s

I have heard several personal testimonies where people prayed for loved ones who were far away from God to come to Him. Many were so far from God from an earthly perspective that this seemed impossible. Yet through God’s grace, their prayers were answered. In today’s Bible story, Jesus is talking about how to enter the Kingdom of God. He clarifies that we can only do this through God’s ability, not in our own strength or capability. There is no number of good deeds or hard work that can make us right with God. We need a Savior, Jesus.

Through Jesus, God made the impossible possible. God wants to do the impossible in our lives, but we must trust Him and believe that what He says is true. Decide to trust in Jesus today. Be assured that if God promised it, it is possible in our lives. Be encouraged that it’s not in our own ability but through His that these things are possible.
