The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Jesus is worthy of our praise! He deserves praise for all He has done for us, is doing, and will do in the future. He is our Savior! I was part of a fantastic worship service at a Holy Spirit conference. It seemed that everyone was praising God from deep in their hearts. It was like a small taste of heaven to be in that moment. I could feel the presence of God as people praised the Lord.

Praising the Lord occurs throughout the Scriptures. One of my favorite examples is where David praises the Lord. Psalm 63:Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. [1]

The Crowd Praises Jesus as He Entered Jerusalem

Jesus comes into Jerusalem at the culmination of His three years of ministry. He is in the process of preparing Himself for the cross. The people joyfully welcomed Jesus as He humbly rode through their streets on a donkey. Mark 11:Jesus was in the center of the procession, and the people all around him were shouting, “Praise God! Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord! 10 Blessings on the coming Kingdom of our ancestor David! Praise God in highest heaven!” [2] Can you imagine how excited you would have been if you were in the crowd?

Praise the Lord That Jesus Rose from the Dead

Jesus rode into Jerusalem on what we refer to as Palm Sunday. Praises filled the landscape. Later that week, on Friday, Jesus was jeered by the crowd and hung on a cross. Many who had praised God earlier must have had their hearts filled with despair. As Jesus hung on the cross, the only disciple there was John. In addition, several faithful women were there, including Mary, the mother of Jesus. All seemed lost, or so they thought.

Then came Sunday, the day of the resurrection. Death and the tomb could not hold Jesus. His Father had raised Him from the dead. The faithful women were the first to hear Jesus had risen from the dead. I wish I could have seen the joy and how they praised the Lord.

Matthew 28:8The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel’s message.[3] Jesus gave His life for us and rose again to pay the price for our sins. Now so, we can be called to faith and have eternal life. Wow! That is something to meditate on and praise the Lord throughout all eternity.  Jesus is worthy of our praise! To hear more, listen here:
