The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come ...

As people we often believe the Lord is slow to unfold His plan because we lack His perspective. God is the ultimate multi-tasker and is working on many facets at once. Our life, described in Scripture as a vapor, is finite and we can’t understand the infinity of God. In our story of Moses, the Hebrews have been crying out to God for generations to rescue. You may ask, “Why didn’t God rescue them sooner?” As believers we must simply trust God. We need faith that God knows best and His timing is perfect. Sometimes we forget God is all knowing, and we are not.

We find God’s plan of rescue in Exodus 12:1-5. While the Israelites were still in the land of Egypt, the Lord gave the following instructions to Moses and Aaron: “From now on, this month will be the first month of the year for you. Announce to the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each family must choose a lamb or a young goat for a sacrifice, one animal for each household. If a family is too small to eat a whole animal, let them share with another family in the neighborhood. Divide the animal according to the size of each family and how much they can eat. The animal you select must be a one-year-old male, either a sheep or a goat, with no defects. [1]

The Lord is going to unfold a plan to protect His people as a final plague comes on Egypt. The sacrifice of this lamb will point to the sacrifice of the Lamb of God (Jesus). Centuries later in the New Testament, John the Baptist will call Jesus the Lamb of God.

29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world![2] John 1:29.

God also has a plan for your life and when we are led by the Holy Spirit God is able to unfold His plan for our life with all the details at just the right time. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. [3] Romans 8:14

Take a step of faith today and seek the Lord for His plan for your life. Don’t be surprised how God’s will transform you as you walk out His plan. Our ministry loves to connect with our readers.
