If you allow the Lord to lead you, He will change your life. I believe we all want to live lives that make a difference and are significant. When we allow the Lord to direct us, we give up our free will and trust He will guide us. To be led by the Good Shepherd is all about faith. Hebrews 11:1Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.[1]The most significant experiences in my life came about when the Lord guided me.
Lisa Rusczyk writes, “Let go of all your fears and worries and let God take over. Giving up control can be difficult, but the changes you see in your life with be worth it.”[2]
Jesus Guided the Disciples
The disciples spent three years with Jesus and learned to look to Him for daily guidance. On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, they wanted to know where Jesus wanted to gather to celebrate this sacred meal.
Mark 14:13 So Jesus sent two of them into Jerusalem with these instructions: “As you go into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him. 14 At the house he enters, say to the owner, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room where I can eat the Passover meal with my disciples?’ 15 He will take you upstairs to a large room that is already set up. That is where you should prepare our meal.” 16 So the two disciples went into the city and found everything just as Jesus had said, and they prepared the Passover meal there. [3] Without question, the disciples quickly followed Jesus’ instructions. Our lives become less complicated when we listen and follow where the Lord leads.
The Lord’s Guidance Changes Us
Jesus is the Good Shepherd who never tires of guiding His sheep and caring for them. John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.[4] Following Jesus is an act of faith and allows sheep to be in the right place at the right time. As a people of faith, we are the sheep of His pasture.
You may not be where the Lord wants you to be at this time, but if you ask the Lord for help, He will guide you back to where you need to be. When we make a mess of our lives, we often recognize the foolishness of our decisions. Our Lord in His graces may use our missteps to teach us valuable lessons about the dangers of not following the Good Shepherd.
A friend lived a life as a drug addict and broken relationships before hitting bottom and crying out to the Lord. Following the Lord’s leading, she renewed her faith, and He transformed her life. She is now an inspiration to others of God’s grace and how surrendering to His leading changes our lives in this world and the next.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. [5] Allow the Lord to lead you. To hear more, listen here:
