The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Being faithful to Jesus throughout life is God’s plan for each person. Jesus wants everyone to be saved and live with Him in heaven someday. Sometimes we stumble in our walk with Jesus, but He continually calls us back to Himself in His mercy.

Today’s place in life may not be where the Lord wants you to be. Jesus tells us that His sheep know the sound of His voice. John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish.[1] When we respond to the voice of Jesus, He will lead us back to the correct path.

Judas Was Unfaithful to Jesus

Judas was a disciple of Jesus and experienced His ministry personally, yet he chose to turn away and betray Him. Instead of listening to the voice of Jesus, Judas decided to listen to the voice of satan. His choice would not stop God’s plan but would lead him to commit suicide, compounding his sin of unfaithfulness.

Mark 14:17 In the evening, Jesus arrived with the Twelve. 18 As they were at the table eating, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, one of you eating with me here will betray me.” 19 Greatly distressed, each one asked in turn, “Am I the one?” 20 He replied, “It is one of you twelve who is eating from this bowl with me. 21 For the Son of Man must die, as the Scriptures declared long ago. But how terrible it will be for the one who betrays him. It would be far better for that man if he had never been born!” [2]

Being Faithful to Jesus Sets us on a Path of Success

Being faithful to Jesus sets us on a path of success in this world and the next. Your success in life may not be what the world values, but it will be what the Lord deems important. In life, the Lord allows storms and tests to come our way to test our faithfulness. In the storms of life, the Lord can shape and mold us and reveal areas where we need to grow.

During the trial of Jesus, Peter denied Him three times. Peter deeply regretted his sin and learned a valuable lesson about humility and God’s grace. Failures in my life have often been the most incredible teacher as the Lord used them to refine me.

James 1:12 God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.[3] Failures in life also remind us we need the Lord’s ongoing help to be faithful no matter the circumstance. Praying to be faithful to the Lord is a significant step in humility and depending on the Lord.
