The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

God keeps His promises is something we can shout from rooftops! Our eternal life is not dependent on us but on God keeping His promises. While we may break promises, the Lord will never break His promises.

A repeated theme throughout the Bible is that the Lord keeps His promises. 1 Corinthians 1:20For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory. [1]

When we see a rainbow, we see a visible sign of one of God’s promises He made in the Old Testament. Genesis 9:13 I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth. [2]

Mary Remembered God’s Promises

As Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth to tell her the good news that she would give birth to the Savior, she sang about the Lord’s promises.Luke 1:55 For he made this promise to our ancestors, to Abraham and his children forever. [3] The Lord told Abraham in the Old Testament that all the families of the earth would be blessed through him. As the Biblical narrative unfolds, we see the line of the Savior coming through Abraham. Genesis 12:3All the families on earth will be blessed through you. [4]

Promises of God

The Lord’s promises are many, but here are two that resonated with me:

The Lord has promised salvation to everyone who believes in Jesus. There is no more incredible blessing than receiving the gift of the Lord’s salvation. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. 17 This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life. [5]

God promised His love would never fail. 1 Chronicles 16:34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. [6]

When life is complicated and full of trials, we can be thankful that the Lord always keeps His promises. One day as believers, we will spend all eternity in heaven, a perfect place because the Lord keeps His promises.
