The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

The Lord is fighting for you, which tells much about Him, His love for you, and your importance. For someone to fight for you means you are worthy of rescue. There is not a person on earth that the Lord did not die for because He loves you and fights for you.

1 Timothy 2:This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.[1] When we begin to meditate on how important we are to God, it can be overwhelming how He loves us despite our failures.

Look to God, Who Fights for Us

The Lord freed the Israelites from Egypt, but the Egyptians pursued them to the edge of the Red Sea. The Israelites felt trapped, not realizing the Egyptians were about to be trapped, not them. The people cried out to Moses because of their fear of the Egyptian army, which they thought would overpower them.

In the natural, it seemed their fear was warranted, and the army would destroy them. But they had forgotten about God. The God who rescued them from Egypt would not let them fall prey to the Egyptian army. Exodus 14:13 But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. 14 The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” [2]

Do you need to hear the Lord speaking words of reassurance in your life? I know I do regularly. When I feel stressed, when life challenges are more than I can endure, I am more likely to be apprehensive. If I am worried, I look down at my circumstances instead of looking to the Lord and His power. When the Lord calls me to look up, He reminds me that He is fighting for me. Not only is the Lord, but His angels are fighting for me. Hebrews 1:14 Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation. [3]

Life Can be Difficult Even When God is Fighting for Us

Life is a battle with many trials and tribulations, but the Lord walks through them with us. He does not eliminate every life problem because we grow in faith and dependence on God through trials. David tells us the Lord goes with us through the valley. Psalm 23:4Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. [4]

When I am committed to the Lord and seeking His will for my life, my battles are His battles, and He will fight for me. Paul reminds us in Ephesians 6:10A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.[5]  In our relationship with God, we sink when we try to fight through our problems on our own. The Lord wants us to stop fighting and trust Him to do the work.
