God sends people to share His message because He loves them and does not want anyone to perish. Imagine that someone shares the good news of Jesus with you, and you become a believer. You feel the presence of the Lord, and a peace that you have never experienced settles over you. Whom would you tell about your transformation? Maybe you would call your friends, text them or post it on social media.
Just before Jesus ascended into heaven, He instructed His disciples by giving them some critical instructions. Mark 16:15 And then Jesus told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.[1] Jesus further instructed the disciples about proclaiming the good news. Matthew 28:19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” [2]
The Lord Sent Paul to Athens
Paul was on a missionary Journey when the Holy Spirit guided him to the community of Athens. Athens was a city with idols and many spiritually lost, but God had not forgotten about them. In the Old Testament, we receive insight into God’s heart for lost people when the Lord speaks to the prophet Jonah’s lack of concern for the people of Nineveh. Jonah 4:11 But Nineveh has more than 120,000 people living in spiritual darkness, not to mention all the animals. Shouldn’t I feel sorry for such a great city?” [3]
No matter how lost a community or a person is, the Lord desires them to hear the good news of Jesus and be saved. Paul was part of the great commission taking the good news of Jesus to lost people because the Lord wanted them to repent and turn towards Him.
You Can Bring the Good News to Others
No matter where you live, the Lord wants to work through you to tell others about Him. One of the greatest gifts the Lord can give us is to be an instrument to save another person. Romans 10: 14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” [4]
May the Lord give you so much love for those around you that you can’t keep His word to yourself but desire to share it as the Holy Spirit guides you. To learn how God sends people to share His message, listen here:
