Sharing Jesus with others is one of our greatest blessings as God’s child. Who was the person who shared Jesus with you? Was it a parent, a friend, a teacher, or another significant person the Lord brought into your life?
A friend was a truck driver far from home when a fellow trucker shared the Good News of Jesus. As my friend began to follow Jesus, it changed his life, his family’s life, and those who worked for him. When we share the good news of Jesus, we don’t know how God will unfold the seed we planted.
Jesus spent time with many people on the lower rung of society, yet they were open to receiving Him when others were not. The world is a hurting place with many problems, yet we can find answers to our problems in Jesus. As believers, we can bring the message of God’s love, healing, and deliverance to all who will receive it.
The Blessings of Telling Others About Jesus
Andrew was a follower of John the Baptist, and when he heard Jesus was the Lamb of God, he was so excited he had to tell someone. John 1:41 Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means “Christ”). [1] Telling Peter about Jesus would change his life; not long after, Jesus would make Peter a fisherman of people.
We never know what the Lord will unfold when we tell someone about Jesus. We can’t make people believe, but we can witness and pray that people know Jesus as their Savior. One way we lead people to Jesus is to be a living example of what it means to be a follower of Jesus. How we conduct ourselves and speak can be an example for others. 1 Corinthians 11:1 And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ. [2] When God fills us with the fruits of the Spirit, others may wonder why we are different. This is an opportunity to tell them about Jesus.
Share Your Story of Faith
One way of sharing your faith is by sharing your story of how the Lord works in your life or how you came to faith. Sharing such stories can be very moving as people observe how your relationship with the Lord changed your life. This is also a great way to work Jesus into your conversation.
There are many hurting people in the world who are desperate and don’t realize that Jesus is the answer. Interest in and a relationship with others allows us to share our faith as the Holy Spirit leads us. We don’t have to pretend to love others. Genuine love for others comes when the Lord’s love transforms our hearts. The influence of our faith and God’s love moves our attention from ourselves to others.
As we take the Lord’s word into our hearts, we learn to deny ourselves for the sake of someone else. As we do, the Lord will bring people into our lives so we can testify to the Good News of Jesus. To learn more about sharing Jesus with others, listen here:
