The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

God intervenes in our lives so we can fulfill the plans He has for us. Just as a coin can’t find itself, the Lord’s plans often take His intervention. The Lord reveals how He planned our lives out before we were born. Psalm 139:16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. [1]

The Lord knew the Ethiopian eunuch before he was born and the right time for Philip to meet him. Acts 8:26 As for Philip, an angel of the Lord said to him, “Go south down the desert road that runs from Jerusalem to Gaza.” 27 So he started out, and he met the treasurer of Ethiopia.[2]

The Lord intervened in both the life of the Ethiopian eunuch and Philip to bring them together at just the right time. In God’s sovereign will, He intervenes in human affairs to guide, protect, heal, bring judgment, and call people to faith. The hand of the Lord is always on us, and even when we choose to turn away, He calls us back in His mercy.

God’s Intervention Changes our Path

The Ethiopian eunuch was returning to Ethiopia after worshiping in Jerusalem and was reading God’s word from Isaiah as he traveled. As he read the word of God, his heart was puzzled, and he did not understand what he was reading. The Lord saw his struggles and his eagerness to know more about Him. God’s plan was always for this man to become a person of faith, and the Lord brought Philip into his life at the right time.

Sometimes, we think God is far away and unaware of our struggles, but that is untrue. Acts 8:29 The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and walk along beside the carriage.” 30 Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” [3]  As one person struggles, another person is an answer to their struggles. The Lord also sees your struggles and intervenes in your life in ways you may not recognize or relegate to chance.

Our Life is All About God’s Divine Intervention

Our entire faith life is based on the Lord’s divine intervention as Jesus came to earth. Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection are the ultimate interventions in our lives to provide a way for us to be saved. When Jesus died for our sins on the cross, He knew this was the only way we could receive salvation. Romans 6:23For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. [4]

The Lord arranges events to fulfill his purpose to bring about His divine plan revealed in His word. As you reflect on your life, ask the Lord to reveal where He intervened even when you didn’t know about it. To learn more about how God intervenes in our lives, listen here:
