The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Peace with God through Christ is the message of the Gospel and is good news for every person who seeks a relationship with Jesus. As Peter was waiting for his lunch, he went onto the flat roof and began praying. As he prayed, the Lord gave him a vision of a sheet coming down with all sorts of animals, reptiles, and birds. Then, there was a voice that told him to kill and eat.

Because they were considered unclean by the Jews, Peter questioned God, but the Lord told him what God had made clean was clean. The Lord revealed that the Gentiles he thought were unclean were now clean. This meant Peter could interact with Gentiles and not be concerned about being made unclean. As Peter contemplated what the Lord had told him, Gentiles knocked at the door the Lord had sent to him.

Peter Went to the Home of Cornelius

The men at the door explained that their master, a Roman soldier named Cornelius, had a vision where an angel told him to summon Peter, who lives in Joppa. Peter then went with them back to Cornelius’s home. Cornelius and friends and relatives were waiting for them as they entered the door.

Acts 10:33Now we are all here, waiting before God to hear the message the Lord has given you.” 34 Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. 35 In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right. 36 This is the message of Good News for the people of Israel—that there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.[1]

No peace in the world is equal to the peace the Lord gives us when we ask Him into our hearts to be our Savior. This is the peace the Lord wanted to bring to Cornelius and his friends and relatives.

Jesus Gives Us Peace

Our world desperately needs peace. Much global conflict exists between nations, political parties, marriages, and even churches. Amid this, the Lord is at work, giving us answers where true peace can come from. Jesus gives us a promise. John 14:27 I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”[2]

Lasting peace only comes with a relationship with Jesus, who puts the scattered pieces of life into order and brings wholeness and unity. We have peace because Jesus forgives our sins, which leads to peace in our hearts. We can also have peace with Christ’s strength as we forgive others. Jesus is the great peacemaker who brings peace to us no matter our circumstances as we look to him in faith. If you want true peace in life, then Jesus is the answer. This is the peace Cornelius, family, and friends experienced as they placed their faith in Jesus and the peace Jesus wants you to experience.  To learn more about peace with God through Christ, listen here:
