The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Living a life of new beginnings is possible only for those who choose to place their faith in Jesus as their Savior. Have you ever wished to relive a day to correct your mistakes? I have. While we can’t relive our lives, we can turn to God, confess our sins, and start anew.

Abraham experienced this, too. He was faithful but sinned and needed cleansing from God. In Genesis 20:2, he told Abimelech that Sarah is his sister, not his wife, repeating the same claim he had made to Pharaoh in Egypt (Genesis 12:10-20). Both deceptions arose from fear for his life, as he believed his wife’s beauty posed a danger. God intervened both times, giving Abraham a fresh start.

Often, through failures, we realize our need for new beginnings and call out to God. Like Abraham, Jonah, or Peter, your past failures don’t define you unless you allow them to. God loves you regardless of your behavior, offering the gift of righteousness to all who return to Him. The enemy wants you to believe you’re beyond God’s calling and that restoration is impossible, which is false. 1 John 1:9But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.[1]

New Beginnings Through Jesus

As people, we are blessed to experience a new beginning through Jesus. If you have never taken that step, the Lord is calling you today. Unlike Abraham, Jesus was without sin, perfectly fulfilling God’s will. He never deviated from the Father’s plan or succumbed to fear. Through His act of self-sacrifice on the cross, a profound new beginning became available to all. His death marked not an end but a glorious beginning, inaugurating a new covenant offering forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and eternal life. His resurrection sealed this beginning, showing His victory over sin and death, paving the way for our spiritual rebirth.

Through faith in Jesus, our past failures, shame, and guilt are removed. To me, that is amazing to consider because sin and shame can weigh us down, but Jesus wants to lift you up. He will wipe our slate clean so we can truly begin again. Jesus offers not just a second chance but a complete transformation that changes our lives forever.

Living a Life of New Beginnings

So, how do we live a life of new beginnings? Each day, we can begin anew as we walk in faith with Jesus. Embracing this theme means daily surrender. Luke 9:23Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.[2]

Just as God continually called Abraham forward despite his flaws, He does the same for us. Following Jesus doesn’t mean we’ll never fail, but it means that when we do, we can confess our sins and repent of them. By His grace, He specializes in fresh starts. As we do, we can allow Him to write a beautiful, redemptive story with our lives, one day at a time.
