What is the character of satan compared to God? There is a comparison between the character of Jesus and satan in Scripture. John 10:10 The thief’s (satan) purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. [1] Since satan rebelled, there has been an ongoing battle between good and evil.
As you go about your daily life, it is evident that something is wrong with this world, and that is sin. We can be thankful that Jesus came to save sinful people through His sacrifice on the cross. Because of what Jesus has done, we can place our faith in Him and become children of God. Ephesians 2:8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. [2]
Satan is Sinful, and God is Righteous
Scripture tells us that satan is a fallen angel who is rebellious, evil, and at war against God and His Kingdom. While the enemy kills, steals, and destroys, the heart of Jesus is to rescue, restore, and lead people to faith so they can live an abundant life. John 3:16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. [3]
Satan was created as a perfect angel in every way until he rebelled against God. Ezekiel 28:15 “You were blameless in all you did from the day you were created until the day evil was found in you. [4] Based on Revelation 12:4 satan led one-third of the angels into sin, but they were cast out of heaven by Archangel Michael and his angels.
Jesus Sets the Captives Free
As Jesus ministered on the earth, satan and his minions worked against Him. Luke 8:27 As Jesus was climbing out of the boat, a man who was possessed by demons came out to meet him. For a long time, he had been homeless and naked, living in the tombs outside the town. [5] The man confronting Jesus is not in his right mind as demons control him. While Jesus leads people into an abundant life, satan, and his followers lead people to be poor in every aspect of their lives. Instead of living in a house, the man lives where there is death; instead of living with people, he is isolated and naked.
Jesus had compassion for the demon-possessed man and delivered him. Luke 8:28 As soon as he saw Jesus, he shrieked and fell down in front of him. Then he screamed, “Why are you interfering with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Please, I beg you, don’t torture me!” 29 For Jesus had already commanded the evil spirit to come out of him.[6]
Jesus freed the man from the enemy and changed the man’s life. Later, the man is fully clothed and in his right mind. Now that he was free, the man wanted to follow Jesus. Instead, Jesus sent him out to tell others what God had done for him. This once demon-possessed man now becomes a builder of God’s Kingdom.
