When we think of a journey we think of movement, but what happens along the way when we become stuck? We may rest on the way. Sometimes we get stuck when it is more comfortable to sit than to move. When we get stuck long enough we can become trapped. When stuck we generally don’t recognize that we are stuck. To others though it may look obvious. Whatever the cause and it can be many being stuck is real.
Maybe you feel stuck today on your spiritual journey. After I finished 8th grade until I was 24 I was stuck in the same place spiritually. I did not recognize it at the time, but only later. I had been going to church as a teen, but when I moved away from home after college that stopped. After losing my first job out of college I went to graduate school, which was a big change in lots of ways. God had shaken my life up and as a result I came to my senses like the prodigal son. At this point I restarted my spiritual journey.
The good news is that the Lord not only calls by the Holy Spirit to awaken us like the prodigal son, but he journeys with us along the way. Talk to the Lord in prayer and ask him to give you spiritual insight along your spiritual journey.
4 Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin? Romans 2:4
