In the story of Jonah chapters 1 and 2 we see the character of God who is a God of intervention, compassion and forgiveness. God doesn’t sit by while people go to their destruction, but continually calls people back to the plan He has for them.
How has the Lord called you back along your journey of faith?
In chapter one and two we see the Lord describing Nineveh as wicked. We see Jonah running away from God as he boards a ship headed for Spain. When the storm comes upon this ship all the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god, which were false gods. Ref. Jonah 1:5 Yet, how does the Lord respond? He responds with compassion and intervention for Jonah and the sailors. This makes it possible for Jonah to have a second chance to proclaim the word of God to the people of Nineveh.
How has the Lord intervened in your life with compassion and forgiveness? How did that affect you?
