Have you ever been afraid to move forward in the faith? As we grow up and transition from one age to the next it can be a challenge. I can remember going to school to school for the first time. I can remember going to summer school one year after the third grade. Those days were long ago, but we can often remember the times in our life that were stressful. They were stressful because in each instance I had to grow up. In some ways it is like going from the children’s pool and moving into the adult pool.
When Jeremiah was called as a prophet, he told the Lord he was too young. “O Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!” Jeremiah 1:6
Growing up can be hard and growing up spiritually can be just as difficult. As adults we often like to hang out in the children’s pool because it is easy. The good news is that the Lord desires much for us than we want for ourselves. Like a good parent, the Lord knows when we are ready for the next step. A child will often say that is too hard because the next step is about growing up. In the end, the next step is the best thing for us. We can look back at those transitions in life and are thankful that someone helped us move forward.
Is the Lord calling you to take a step forward? What is he calling you to do with his help? Take that step today! Remember the words Paul wrote in Philippians 4:13. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
May the Lord strengthen you today.
