The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Today’s Scripture & Insight: Jeremiah 32:17

The Lord is all powerful and uses His power for our good. That is a wonderful thought to contemplate. We live in a world where many people use power for their own gain with little regard to what the Lord Jesus would like them to do. In the end, power without faith in Jesus as Savior is of no value. But our Lord is not like the people of the world! Praise the Lord.

In our story, Jeremiah was confronted by the false prophet Hananiah who told the people what they wanted to hear. His goal was to be the popular prophet. After being bullied, Jeremiah left the temple, but the Lord told him  to go back and say to Hananiah: I am the Lord All-Powerful, the God of Israel. You smashed a wooden yoke, but I will replace it with one made of iron. I will put iron yokes on all the nations, and they will have to do what King Nebuchadnezzar commands. I will even let him rule the wild animals. Jeremiah 28:13-14 CEV

The Lord tells us in Jeremiah 32:17, “O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you![1] Because God is all powerful, He can help you with anything. One of my favorite verses talks about that. Philippians 4:13,“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” [2]

Isaiah 40:29 – He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. [3]

2 Chronicles 16:9 – The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.[4]

What difference can God’s power make in an uncontrollable situation? Do you feel incapable of doing something that God wants you to do? Take time turn to our all-powerful God in prayer. Let me end with this verse from Ephesians 3:20 – Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. [5]
