Acts 17: 26 From one man, Adam, he made every man and woman and every race of humanity, and he spread us over all the earth. He sets the boundaries of people and nations, determining their appointed times in history. 27 He has done this so that every person would long for God, feel their way to him, and find him—for he is the God who is easy to discover![1]
Paul told the Athenians that it was God who made them, and it was God who was in control. God had determined appointed times for nations so that we will seek Him. I find the thought that God set the boundaries of people so that we would seek Him to be an amazing concept. The Creator of the universe wants us to feel our way to Him and find Him. And, He promises that He is easy to find. God tells us this same thing through out Scripture.
- Jeremiah 29: 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12 In those days when you pray, I will listen. 13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. 14 I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes.[2]
- Psalm 19: 1 The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
The skies display his craftsmanship.
2 Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known.
3 They speak without a sound or word;
their voice is never heard.
4 Yet their message has gone throughout the earth,
and their words to all the world.[3] - Deut. 4: 29 But when you’re there (not following God), you’ll look for the Eternal your God. If every part of you is invested in the search, heart and soul, then you’ll find Him. 30 When you’re in trouble in those days yet to come because of all these things, you’ll come back to the Eternal your God, and you’ll listen to His voice. 31 He is a compassionate God. He won’t abandon you or destroy you or forget the covenant He made with your ancestors—He swore to them that He’d keep it![4]
Our God is a God you can trust. Seek Him with your whole heart, pray and He will answer and be compassionate.
