Jealous King Saul was trying to kill David. When life was unfair for David, he continued to trust and worship God. Ps. 26:12, Now I stand on solid ground, and I will publicly praise the Lord.[1] God gave David stability when Saul was unstable.
We can stand before God because of what Jesus has done for us, Jesus is our solid rock when life is unstable. 2 Cor.5: 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.[2] It wasn’t fair, but Jesus loved us so much that He paid the price for our sins on the cross. Eph. 2: 20 Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself.[3] When life is unfair, we need the stability that only Jesus Christ can give us. In the end it is God’s opinion of us that counts, not the world’s opinion.
David can give us a model for life when life is unfair. We see David not looking to counter Saul as the problem but looking to God and pleading his case before Him.Think about how you have acted in the past when you were treated unfairly. How can God help you change the next time it happens?
