The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Dream of the Ages | Landmarks of Prophecy #1 | Pastor Doug ...

God has given Daniel the meaning of King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. First, Daniel thanked and praised God for the answer and then he prepared to tell the king. Daniel 2: 24 Then Daniel went in to see Arioch, whom the king had ordered to execute the wise men of Babylon. Daniel said to him, “Don’t kill the wise men. Take me to the king, and I will tell him the meaning of his dream.”

25 Arioch quickly took Daniel to the king and said, “I have found one of the captives from Judah who will tell the king the meaning of his dream!”[1]

It appears that Arioch wants to take credit for finding Daniel and the solution to the dream. But Daniel gives God all the credit and after hearing the dream interpretation, the king gives God credit, too. Daniel 2: 47 The king said to Daniel, “Truly, your God is the greatest of gods, the Lord over kings, a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this secret.[2]

The tragic destruction of all the wise men of Babylon was thwarted by Daniel and his three friends. They accomplished this through God’s wisdom, counsel, patience, and prayer, accompanied by a spirit of humility. The actions of Daniel and his friends give God the credit. The most comforting truth of this passage is that God compassionately shares knowledge with His servants at the right time, in the right place, to rescue them from certain death.

Daniel couldn’t save himself through human means and we can’t save ourselves either. Rom.3: 23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. [3]God also does this for us in the person of Jesus Christ. When we believe and trust in Jesus we are saved from eternal death. Rom.6: 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.[4]  It is God who gets the glory for our salvation.  Ephesians 1: All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.[5]
