Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

The Importance of Relationships | Dynamic Connections

How have relationships with others shaped your life? Are there relationships in your life you need to repair or spend more time with? There is nothing in life more important than relationships. In many ways’ relationships are like an old car because they need constant maintenance to keep them working. Just like cars don’t fix themselves, untended relationships fall into disrepair.

My Grandfather’s Relationships

There is probably nothing that brings people greater joy or heart ache than personal relationships. When my grandfather was quite ill many of his grandchildren, and family gathered around him in the weeks leading up to his passing. It was a special time to renew relationships, which were his greatest treasure. Yet, there was one treasured relationship that was even more important that sustained him. That was his relationship with His Savior Jesus. You may have been let down by others in a relationship, but Jesus our Savior will never let you down. He knows our relationship with Him is the very lifeline of our existence.

Jesus and Relationships

Jesus knew the value of relationships and modeled that for his disciples. His mission was more than telling people information; He was showing them how to live out what He was telling them. We see Jesus modeling this when He attended a wedding with His disciples and mother. John 2:1The next day there was a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the celebration.[1]

Jesus not only models the importance of relationships but gives us the love that is necessary for relationships. God loved us so much He sent His Son, Jesus, to this earth to die on a cross to bring us into a relationship with Him. John 3:16For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.[2]

Prayer

Thank you, Jesus, for giving your life for us so You could call us into a relationship. We can’t comprehend the cost that You paid on the cross and the depth of Your love you have for us. Help us, heavenly Father, to grow in our relationship with You. In addition, help us to show Your love to others. Amen.
