Praise the Lord for what He has done. What are some things you can praise the Lord for today? Why would that be important? Remembering what the Lord had done for us helps us to be thankful and to look up to God whom we owe every blessing to. When we spend time being thankful it helps us return our focus to the Lord and take it off ourselves and the concerns of this world.
Do you need to be uplifted today? If so, meditate on what you are thankful for. When we praise the Lord, it helps our mental and spiritual health. As we turn to the Psalms, they have great insight about being thankful.
Psalm 9: 1 I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. [1]
Psalm 100:4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation. [2]
Deborah and Barak Sang Praises to the Lord for What He had Done
The Lord had told Deborah the prophet that the Lord would give them victory over their enemy the Canaanites and He did. The Lord fought for them and they were filled with joy for what God had done. Think how this song of praise affected the faith of those around them and the faith of the Israelites! When we praise God we affect those around us.
Judges 5:1On that day Deborah and Barak son of Abinoam sang this song: 2 “Israel’s leaders took charge, and the people gladly followed. Praise the Lord! 3 “Listen, you kings! Pay attention, you mighty rulers! For I will sing to the Lord. I will make music to the Lord, the God of Israel. 4 “Lord, when you set out from Seir and marched across the fields of Edom, the earth trembled, and the cloudy skies poured down rain. 5 The mountains quaked in the presence of the Lord, the God of Mount Sinai— in the presence of the Lord, the God of Israel. [3]
Praise the Lord for What He has Done in Your Life
Before we were even born, Jesus came into this world and died for our sins. Paul writes in Galatians 4:4 about the Lord sending His Son at just the right time into the world. We can be so thankful that Jesus died for all of our sins so we could be called to faith. We can be thankful for the work of the Holy Spirit that drew us to the Lord and changed our spiritual life. You are now a child of God. Your name is written in the Lamb’s book of life. The Lord opens a whole new world and purpose for living when we believe in Jesus.
Prayer
Oh Lord, it is so good to come to You and praise Your holy Name. You are so kind to me. Even when I don’t deserve it, You continue to call me and have mercy on my soul. Your compassion is like no other. Thank You for allowing me into Your presence and for making a way that I may be saved. Thank You for Your mercy and for the cross.
Your sacrifice gives me hope. It is an honor to come to You, my King. You are the rock of my salvation. All my praise and worship be to Your great Name. I lift You high and rejoice in the name of the Lord. My lips sing praise to my God, who saves. It is an honor to serve You. You are the source of truth and the strength that I need. You bless me in more ways than I know. Thank You Lord. I love You. Amen.[4]
