The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Luke the Evangelist Quote: "Your faith has saved you; go ...

Remember, your faith saves you. Have you received Jesus as your Savior? If not, today is the day of salvation. 2 Cor. 6:2 For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation. [1]

When my mother went to be with the Lord, I was given the permission to preach the sermon message at her funeral. The church was full as many friends and relatives had come to the worship service to celebrate my mother’s life. After hearing the Gospel message, I transitioned to a call of salvation.

Each person had their head bowed as I asked people to raise their hands if they wanted to receive Jesus. Only a handful of people raised their hands, and I thought to myself, “Mom, I did the best I could.” Now, it is up to you God. Then from the back with all heads bowed and eyes closed a wave came forward of hands being raised. The wave started in the back and progressed to the front as if the Holy Spirit was blowing over them. About half the people raised their hands as I lead them through a prayer to receive Jesus.

Faith Saved the Immoral Woman

One day while Jesus was eating at a house of a Pharisee, the Holy Spirit drew an immoral woman to Jesus. She poured out expensive perfume on his feet as her tears also dropped on his feet. She wiped her tears from His feet with her hair as she humbled herself before Jesus. Her tears where the result of a repentant and changed heart.

Then she heard the words of forgiveness from Jesus that must have lifted her up from the pit of sin. Luke 7:47 “I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” 48 Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.” [2]

Faith in Jesus Will Save You

When we place our faith in Jesus as our Savior something happens in the spiritual realm. There is great rejoicing in heaven because one sinner has repented. (Ref. Luke 15:7) Our name is written in the Lambs book of Life. (Ref. Rev. 21:27) The Holy Spirt begins to transform our life like a house that is being remodeled.

Paul writes about the gift of faith. Ephesians 2:God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. [3]
