Jesus knows your name. What do you feel like when someone unexpectedly knows your name? How does it feel to be recognized by name? Names are important and I believe we all like to be called by our name. No one like to be referred to as “Hey you.”
Place yourself in the story of Zacchaeus. The Lord is coming down your street and you are excited He is coming. But there is a problem, you are too short to see above the crowd. What should you do? Zacchaeus quickly climbs into a tree so he can see Jesus when He passes by.
Jesus is drawing Zacchaeus supernaturally. Although as disliked tax collector, Zacchaeus goes out into the crowd and climbs a tree to see Jesus. What came next must have shocked Zacchaeus.
Jesus Knew Zacchaeus’ Name
Luke 19:5 When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. “Zacchaeus!” he said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.” Can you imagine the look on Zacchaeus face when the Lord knew him by name?
Sometimes we don’t think about the fact the Lord knows our name and everything about us. The Lord knows more about us than we do ourselves. Jesus knows our life from beginning to end. Nothing surprises Him. God knows the plans He as for us and each day He helps us accomplish those plans.
The Lord Knows Your Name
The Lord knows your name and there is not a day that goes by that the Lord is not thinking about you and working in your life. In a figurative way you are always on God’s to do list. Each day the Lord has something He wants to communicate to you, to transform you, and work through you. Are you listening?
Isaiah 43:1But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. God knows all the stars by name. A star can be known by God but can’t know God. Think about how much more important you are than a star. The Lord has made us to be known by Him and to know Him. That is amazing when you think about it.
Known in God’s Kingdom
As believers in Jesus, we are adopted into the Kingdom of God. We are given a new identity, a new name, and a life filled with possibility. We become the children of God. No matter what our past has been and regardless of our mistakes, the Lord knows our names and desires our worship and praise.
