Following the Lord is exciting. Have you experienced the excitement of following the Lord? How has that affected you? Perhaps following the Lord has been more routine in your life. The good news is the Lord would like to surprise you in such a way your heart leaps with excitement as He draws you to follow Him in a deeper way.
I become more excited about the Lord when I pray and ask God to give me insight and revelation. God is faithful and He desires to open our eyes to what is around us. If we are expectant to what God has for us each day, we will not be disappointed. Maybe the Lord will prompt you to encourage someone during the day. Ask Him to help you to make a difference in the life of someone else. You will begin to see changes in your life as you grow in your relationship with the Lord. The Lord loves to mold His children into new people.
Cornelius and His Household were Excited about the Lord
An angel appeared to Cornelius in a vision and gave him directions.Acts 10:5 Now send some men to Joppa, and summon a man named Simon Peter. 6 He is staying with Simon, a tanner who lives near the seashore.” 7 As soon as the angel was gone, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier, one of his personal attendants... 24 They arrived in Caesarea the following day. Cornelius was waiting for them and had called together his relatives and close friends.[1]
How do we know Cornelius was so excited? He had gathered close friends and relatives as he waited for Peter to arrive. As he had faithfully sought the Lord Cornelius’ life had been changed. His excitement spilled over to others. His friends and relatives would not be disappointed as Peter came and told them about Jesus. In addition, they were all baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. I wonder how many times they told others about that day?
Following Jesus is Exciting
Jesus has a way of entering the heart and changing our perspective. He softens us to see the world and our situations from a different point of view. Life can be so much better when we allow our heavenly Father to work within us and through us.
Life will always have its ups and downs. There will be plenty of trials to face. But why face them alone? Why not invite God into your life, daily! Let him know your troubles and share in the burden. He will lighten the load and help you through the mess. He can be your strength, your courage, and your joy. We just have to invite him inside our homes. Do this consistently, and the excitement about God and what He is doing in your life will come!
