God desires to give you revelation. I learned this lesson as I led a Bible study that took place in a lunchroom of a small manufacturing facility. The factory workers who joined us for the study were new to the teachings of Jesus and had not grown up in the church. Week after week I was astonished at the insights into the Scripture the Lord gave these men.
This was a reminder to me that the Lord desires and does give us revelation as we seek Him. The Lord gives amazing revelation today just as He did back in the days the Bible was written.
Cornelius Received Revelation from the Lord
God was already at work in the heart of Cornelius as he is called a God-fearing man, but God had more for him. The Lord gave Cornelius a vision in order to revel more information to him. I believe God was just as excited to give Cornelius revelation as he was to receive it.
Acts 10:1In Caesarea there lived a Roman army officer named Cornelius, who was a captain of the Italian Regiment. 2 He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God. 3 One afternoon about three o’clock, he had a vision in which he saw an angel of God coming toward him. “Cornelius!” the angel said. 4 Cornelius stared at him in terror. “What is it, sir?” he asked the angel. And the angel replied, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have been received by God as an offering! 5 Now send some men to Joppa, and summon a man named Simon Peter. 6 He is staying with Simon, a tanner who lives near the seashore.” [1]
God Still Gives Revelation today
Do you desire revelation from the Lord? If you do, ask the Lord to open your heart to all that He wants to reveal to you. Spend time in God’s word and ask the Lord for revelation. Don’t be surprised when verses you may have read before have greater meaning and insight. Don’t be surprised if the Lord speaks to you in dreams or gives you a vision.
Take time to journal what the Lord is speaking to you in His word. Record significant dreams and ask God to give you insight into what they mean.
We are in the last days where God’s Holy Spirit is moving and giving people revelation. Spend time with the Lord and don’t miss what He has for you. Acts 2:17 ‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. [2]
