I was almost middle age before I pondered why God’s plan for my life is important. Have you ever considered how God’s plan for your life is important? If you are reading this, the Holy Spirit is working in your heart so God’s plan can unfold in your life.
The Lord has more for you. In God’s infinite wisdom He has a purpose for your life that He developed before you were born. Psalm 139:16You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
God’s Plan Builds Others Up
God’s plan for our life builds up us and others and brings fulfillment like nothing else can. Jesus contrasts His plan with the enemy’s plan. John 10:10The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.
Jesus tells us that His plan is all about abundant life, which is a stark contrast to living a life that is all about self. A self-centered life becomes destructive to one who lives it and those around that person. The Apostle Paul’s life before He knew Jesus is an example of what can happen when we stray from God’s plan for our life.
Our Plans can Hurt Others
Acts 9:1Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest 2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem.
When we live life apart from God’s plans, they are often filled with plans that hurt other people. No one must teach us how to be selfish and to grasp what makes us feel good. Perhaps this is where you are today, and the Lord wants you to turn to Him so you can begin to live the life He planned for you. The Lord reached down and changed Paul and He can also change you as you call out to Him in prayer.
Let God Unfold His Plan for Your Life
The first step in living the life God has planned is to let go of our plan for our lives. Surrender is difficult for anyone, but with God’s help we can. (Phil 4:13) As we surrender to the Lord, He leads us out of the desert of life into His green pastures. Think of all the people the Lord wants to influence through you.
The Lord takes great interest working through His children to build His Kingdom. As you seek the Lord, He will awaken a new passion in your heart for doing what is right. Matthew 6:33Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
