The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

King David Quotes: The Lord laughs at the wicked, for he ...

Have you ever been a situation that you could not control? The world in which we live, for me, is one of those situations. When we face challenges in our lives, we need to realize that God is in control, not the politicians.

Life is filled with ups and downs and evil seems to be growing at an alarming rate. But we have an almighty Father who is in control of all things. In all situations, God is in control.

John 16:33 I (Jesus) have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” [1]

Psalm 37: 12 The wicked plot against the godly; they snarl at them in defiance. 13 But the Lord just laughs, for he sees their day of judgment coming. [2]

Judgment for the wicked will come sooner than they think. God’s word it makes it clear that in the end the righteous will be vindicated, and the wicked will be thrown into hell. The righteous are subjected to wicked for only a small time in all eternity.

King Herod Agrippa Thought Peter was His to Destroy

The death of James had pleased the Jews, so King Agrippa had Peter arrested, too. Peter was in prison under heavy guard since God had already released him from prison once before. (Acts 5:17-23)

Acts 12:Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said, “Quick! Get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists.[3]

Peter left the prison escorted by one of God’s angels. A few minutes later Peter joined the church group that had gathered to pray for his release. To their surprise, God intervened and foiled the evil plans that were the political leader King Herod Agrippa.

God is Control as You Read This

God showed that He was in control as He answered the prayers of the church as an angel freed Peter. Think how the church grew in their trust in the Lord as Peter came to their prayer gathering. God wants us to trust Him, no matter the situation.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. [4]Maybe your life is in pieces. You may wonder if God is even aware of what’s taking place in the world. Why would God allow these things to happen?

We can take comfort in the words written by Paul. Romans 8:28.And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.[5] In God’s infinite timing, evil will be put to rest once and for all never to rise again. Until that happens, we can be thankful the Lord is with us protecting us and giving us peace only He can give.
