When life is difficult, we, as Christians, realize we are not exempt from the problems of this world. There are going to be times during our journey on this earth that will be very difficult, and some will experience greater problems than others.
As believers in Jesus, He calls us to cast our cares on Him. 1 Peter 5:7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. [1] Jesus, our Savior, is always there when we reach out to Him in prayer. It can be hard to trust God when life goes sideways, but He is and can handle our fears.
Life Became Difficult for Grandpa
My Grandfather did not know the Lord when he suffered a stroke in his early seventies. Life was difficult but God, in His mercy, sent a caretaker to him who knew Jesus. It was this wonderful woman who led him to Jesus. My grandfather was in a storm of life, but the Lord was with him and did amazing spiritual work in this season of poor health. His paralysis never changed, but as a person of faith, he had a future. God had more for my grandfather!
Peter and John Encountered a Man Whose Life was Difficult
A handicapped person during the days of the disciples had no choice but to beg to survive. Simple things that we take for granted, such as cleanliness and food, would have been a challenge.
Acts 3:1Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon to take part in the three o’clock prayer service. 2 As they approached the Temple, a man lame from birth was being carried in. Each day he was put beside the Temple gate, the one called the Beautiful Gate, so he could beg from the people going into the Temple. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for some money.[2]
What Should I Do When I Find Myself in a Difficult Place?
Please remember:
- We are not alone. When the storms of life come remember Jesus is there with us. You may not feel His presence, but God’s word says He will be there. He will walk through the storm with you.
- Jesus is all powerful. Sometimes we forget what the Lord has done for us in the past or how He helped others in the Scriptures. The Lord is more powerful than any storm we are in.
- Storms of life have a beginning and an end. Jesus will walk through the storm with us and help get to the place where He wants us to be as we trust in Him.
