How do I live a life of faith in a changing world? The world has been chaotic throughout history, yet the Lord calls His children to be the salt and the light (Matthew 5:13-16.) The Lord wants us to make a difference in the world and those around us.
Becoming a Person of Faith Helps Me Live in a Changing World
To live a life of faith in a changing world, you first must become a person of faith. When I become a person of faith, the Holy Spirit lives in me and guides me. Hebrews 11:6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. [1]
The Scriptures tell us that God is the Potter, and we are the clay. When we are open to God’s will and led by the Holy Spirit, He molds, transforms, and makes us holy. When we let the Lord change us, we begin to seek His plan for our life instead of our plan. I may not know how to live in a changing world, but God does. His plan will place me in the right place at the right time to build His Kingdom.
The Prophet Anna was Living in a Changing World
We don’t think of people living at the time of Jesus as living in a changing world, but it was. The Roman Empire ruled Israel. Life was not easy, and Anna had been a widow most of her adult life. Can you imagine how her world changed when her husband died? Yet, she remained faithful to the Lord during the changing world. She had a deep faith which sustained her along her spiritual journey. This same faith will also sustain you in a changing world.
Luke 2:36 Anna, a prophet, was also there in the Temple. She was the daughter of Phanuel from the tribe of Asher, and she was very old. Her husband died when they had been married only seven years. 37 Then she lived as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the Temple but stayed there day and night, worshiping God with fasting and prayer. 38 She came along just as Simeon was talking with Mary and Joseph, and she began praising God. She talked about the child to everyone who had been waiting expectantly for God to rescue Jerusalem. [2]
Be the Salt and the Light in a Changing World
Think of the lives Anna touched as she worshiped God with prayers and fasting. She was the salt and the light as the Lord guided her prayers and interaction with people. Think how encouraging she was to Mary and Joseph. As the Lord guides you, ask how you can live in a changing world and make a difference through your prayers. You can be like Anna.
