That nothing is impossible with God is a hard concept for us as humans to wrap our brains around. We can’t listen very well to two conversations, yet the Lord can listen to millions of conversations with ease. Think of all the people who are praying to the Lord right now and each person has the Lord’s complete attention. When we talk to the Lord it is like we are the only person on the earth.
Mary was told by the angel, Gabriel, she would become pregnant by the Holy Spirit. Then the angel also told her that her relative Elizabeth would have a child. This was important because she was past the age of bearing any children.
Luke 1:36 What’s more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! People used to say she was barren, but she has conceived a son and is now in her sixth month. Jesus would later speak to His disciples about how “nothing is impossible with God” when it came to people being saved. Mark 10:27 Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.”
With God the Impossible is Possible
In this ungodly world change can seem impossible. The truth is that change is possible with God. How many times have you searched for the solution to your problems without asking for God’s help? There is an important phrase in the Bible, “But God.”
God allows times of difficulty to affect our lives to help us grow in faith. There are times when we must depend on God because He is the only answer. When our faith is stretched, we begin to see things in way we did not see before. It often seems hard for us to completely trust Him when our world is crashing in around us, but we must.
Sometime the process of learning to trust God is a long journey that can take years not minutes. We need to learn to take our eyes off the circumstances and look to Jesus. Sometimes we need to cry out to the Lord to help us do that because we don’t have the strength to look up. When we do there comes a quiet calmness when we focus on Jesus.
The God of the Impossible
Look at the parting of Red Sea, the fiery furnace of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, the raising of Lazarus and all the other miracles recorded in the Bible. If He could do all of this, He can certainly handle any of our problems. If you are facing what seems to you an impossible situation, give it over to the Lord, and trust Him to see you through it. Psalm 46:1God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
