The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

“Will you make room for Jesus” is the most defining question of your life. Perhaps this is why the Lord has brought you to this devotion today. There will come a day when your life is over, and you will be going to heaven or hell. Those who made room for Jesus as their Savior will go to heaven for all of eternity. For those who did not want to be close to Jesus in this life, God will honor that decision for eternity. The ministry of John the Baptist was all about inviting people to make room for Jesus. Think about how many people are in heaven today because they responded to his message and made room for Jesus.

Isaiah Tells About the Coming of John the Baptist

Mark 1:It began just as the prophet Isaiah had written: “Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, and he will prepare your way. He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord’s coming! Clear the road for him!’ ” [1] Our God wants everyone to come to faith, and He sent John the Baptist as a herald to prepare people for the coming ministry of Jesus. Just as the people in Israel needed to prepare their hearts for the coming Messiah, we also need to prepare our hearts for Jesus.

Make Room for Jesus and Invite Him In

Jesus brought us a new covenant resulting from His work on the cross. A fantastic result is that as we believe in Jesus, He comes to live in our hearts. Take time and ask Jesus today to show Himself to you.

As you go about your workday, ask Jesus to direct your path. Lord, “How would you like to be involved in what I am doing today?” Open the door of your life and ask Jesus to make your home a place where He is welcome. Paul comments on this opportunity. Ephesians 3:17“Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.[2]

Make Room for Jesus and Ask Him to Heal Your Broken Places

The struggles of life can weigh us down. If you are struggling today, God sees and knows about your issues. He is waiting to hear your prayer and for you to pour out your heart to Him. Psalm 34:18The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. [3]

As you make room for Jesus, expect the Lord to begin to transform your life. Be patient and see how the Lord reforms you to His design.
