God wants more for us to fulfill the destiny He has for us. An evangelist friend says, “Many people are satisfied with crumbs when they could eat steak.” There was a time in my life when I was also satisfied with just crumbs in a spiritual sense. But God was calling me into deeper water; I didn’t recognize that I had been satisfied with crumbs until the Holy Spirit gave me the courage to move forward.
Is the Lord stretching you today as you read this? Is He awakening your spirit to help you recognize He has more for you? If so, you are blessed!
Jesus Had More for the People
The day before Jesus landed on the other side of the Sea of Galilee, He had fed 5000 men, including women and children, with five loaves and two fish. Now He continued His ministry on the other side of the lake. The question is, do they want to be just healed, or are they interested in becoming followers of Jesus?
Mark 6:53bThey brought the boat to shore 54 and climbed out. The people recognized Jesus at once, 55 , and they ran throughout the whole area, carrying sick people on mats to wherever they heard he was. 56 Wherever he went—in villages, cities, or the countryside—they brought the sick out to the marketplaces. They begged him to let the sick touch at least the fringe of his robe, and all who touched him were healed. [1]
The sick people came to Jesus for physical healing, but few came for spiritual healing. They were satisfied with crumbs when they could have had more. This prolonged their lives on earth, but did they secure eternal life? The text does not say but Jesus continued to have compassion on them like sheep without a shepherd.
Jesus Wants More for Us
God has a plan for each of us. Psalm 139:16You (Lord) saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. [2] Reading what God has for us in His word is exciting! God has unique plans for you that don’t include spiritual crumbs. Let the Holy Spirit lead you as you seek the Lord.
Romans 12:2Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. [3] As we let the Lord transform our hearts, He gives us a desire to seek His perfect plan for our life. Don’t wait too long! The Lord is waiting to listen to your prayers as you seek Him for the plans, He has for you.
