The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

The healing power of Jesus is an everyday occurrence all over the earth. Think about the relationships that were healed today by the Lord. Or perhaps the Lord healed a disease. Jesus has the power to heal our diseases on this earth, or He may choose to heal us in heaven.

We can never limit the Lord’s timing or method when He chooses to heal. I have seen many people physically healed. In contrast, the Lord gave others the strength to walk through their illness. We don’t always understand what the Lord is working out when we pray for healing on this side of eternity.

Jesus Healed the Blindman

As Jesus journeyed to Jericho, there was a blind beggar on the side of the road. When he heard that Jesus was coming, he began to call out to Jesus. Mark 10:47“Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 “Be quiet!” many of the people yelled at him. But he only shouted louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” [1] Jesus stopped and had the blind man come to him, so he jumped up and came to Jesus.

Mark 10:51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked. “My Rabbi,” the blind man said, “I want to see!” 52 And Jesus said to him, “Go, for your faith has healed you.” Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road.[2]

Physical Blindness and Spiritual Blindness

As Jesus attempted to prepare His disciples for His death, their spiritual blindness was like another’s physical blindness. Jesus restored sight for Bartimaeus. Yet, the disciples would not recognize their spiritual blindness until after the Holy Spirit came.

We often are just like the disciples and don’t realize that we are spiritually blind. To see Christ’s Kingdom clearly, Jesus must heal our blinded eyes. It still takes the power of the Holy Spirit for us to regain our spiritual sight.

What Do You Want Me to Do for You?

This is still a question that Jesus asks us. While many need physical healing, even more need broken relationships healed. There is not a broken heart that Jesus cannot heal. There is no one beyond the reach of our Savior. It often takes brokenness before realizing our need for Jesus and His love.

As Jesus heals us either physically or relationally, He opens our spiritual eyes. We begin to know the love and grace of our Savior in a new way. He knows the struggles we are going through and what holds us back from living the abundant life. He has both a desire and a plan to heal those wounds. Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.[3]  To learn more about the healing power of Jesus, listen here:
