The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Praising the Lord has a powerful effect on the spiritual atmosphere around us. It is like turning on a light in the darkness. When I praise the Lord, I look up to him and remember what He has done and is doing in my life. There is no more significant praise we can give to the Lord than to praise Him for sending His Son, Jesus, into the world to rescue us.

Where would we be today if Jesus had not saved us from our sins on the cross? 1 Peter 1:All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead.[1] As we praise the Lord, He reminds us of forgotten things that deserve praise.

Mary Praised the Lord

Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth. Elizabeth already knew Mary was expecting a child that would save the world from its sins. Luke 1:41 At the sound of Mary’s greeting, Elizabeth’s child leaped within her, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 Elizabeth gave a glad cry and exclaimed to Mary, “God has blessed you above all women, and your child is blessed. 43 Why am I so honored that the mother of my Lord should visit me? 44 When I heard your greeting, the baby in my womb jumped for joy. 45 You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said.”[2] Mary responded by singing a song of praise.

Praising the Lord in All Circumstances

Paul gives an impressive insight into the significance of praise. 1 Thessalonians 5:16 Always be joyful. 17 Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. [3] What if we prayed and asked the Lord to live out what Paul inspired people to do? How would this change our lives and those around us? The Lord desires that each of us fulfill His plans. As we are joyful, pray, and give thanks to Jesus, it is a big step in that direction.

Praising the Lord Reminds us God is at Work

Praising the Lord reminds us of how much God loves us and is involved in our lives. He truly is the Gardner and the Good Shepherd in my life. Ephesians 1:3All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.” [4] How can you praise the Lord today?
