The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

God chose you to be born into this world and to draw you to faith. You are chosen! You were not an accident but part of God’s fantastic plan. There was a time in eternity when the Lord determined who you would be, when you would be born, and to whom. Psalm 139:16You (Lord) saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. [1] Becoming a person of faith is not an accident. Before you came to know Jesus as your Savior, He chose you. It was His idea. Before God created the universe in which we live, He decided He wanted to make you.

When I am chosen for something, it makes me feel good inside. Whether chosen to play on a sports team or asked to lead something, it makes me feel valued. Paul writes to the church in Thessalonica to remind them they were chosen by God. 1 Thessalonians 1:We know, dear brothers and sisters, that God loves you and has chosen you to be his own people. For when we brought you the Good News, it was not only with words but also with power, for the Holy Spirit gave you full assurance that what we said was true.[2]

The Lord Chose Mary

In the Lord’s wisdom, He chose Mary to be the earthly mother of Jesus. When Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth, she was already pregnant with baby Jesus. As she visited Elizabeth, she shared how the Lord blessed her. Luke 1:48 For he (The Lord) took notice of his lowly servant girl, and from now on, all generations will call me blessed. [3]

Mary was incredibly humbled that of all the women who could have been the mother of Jesus, God blessed her for the task. Think how blessed you are that the Lord chose you to be a sheep of His pasture. God could have created someone else, but He decided to make you with a unique plan for your life.

The Lord Chooses Us to Bear Fruit

The Lord is always working in our lives to help us to make a difference in the world. John 15:16 You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. [4] We all want to make a difference in this world, and we can as we humbly let the Lord lead us.
