The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Seeking the Lord can be a turning point and a special time in your relationship with Him. When we seek the Lord, it is a time of listening, being still, and waiting for the Lord to speak. We live in a fast-paced culture, and seeking the Lord for our questions and concerns is not always instantaneous.

The Lord often wants us to press in for long periods as we come to him with our thoughts and concerns. As we mature in the faith, we realize how seeking the Lord to live out our daily lives dramatically impacts the quality of our life. I have been on many detours because I didn’t pursue the Lord’s guidance. 1 Chronicles 16:11 Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him. [1]

The Lord Calls the Israelites to Seek Him

The Israelites were in captivity in Babylon and were discouraged. Jeremiah wrote them an uplifting letter to give them guidance and hope. In addition, Jeremiah also told them that the Lord wanted them to take a step of faith and seek Him.

Jeremiah 29:13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.[2] The Lord wanted them to know that when they sincerely prayed to Him in faith, He would guide, direct, and encourage them. God wanted them to know He wanted to speak to them regularly during this challenging time. The Lord also wanted them to take an active role in their relationship with Him, which is another reason He wanted them to seek Him.

God Knows What is Best for You

As we grow in our relationship with the Lord, it becomes evident that we need to seek the Lord in everything we do. We often seek the Lord when someone is seriously ill or in a crisis, but not in the small daily things. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:33, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. [3]

The Lord will guide us in every part of our lives, from looking for our car keys to who we are to marry. Allowing the Lord to work through our small choices builds our ability to hear from Him. Then seeking Him becomes part of our daily life. When we continually seek the Lord, we will live a very fulfilling life.
