The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Not everyone knows Jesus as their Savior. This points out the need for evangelism. As believers, we are blessed by knowing Jesus as our Savior, but we also have a special responsibility. Jesus tells us that believers need to go out into the harvest field to tell people about Him. Luke 10:These were Jesus’ instructions to them: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.[1]

How did the Lord draw you to faith? Reflecting on how the Lord drew us to faith, we realize it would be much different without God’s intervention. A few years ago, I was involved in a crusade in Honduras where many people came to faith. For months before the crusade, local pastors had gathered to pray for people to have open hearts, and God answered their prayers. Think of the lives changed because people stepped into the harvest field.

Not Everyone Knew Jesus as He Entered Jerusalem

Jesus entered Jerusalem to die as a perfect sacrifice for our sins, but most people did not even know who He was as He entered the city. Matthew 21:10 The entire city of Jerusalem was in an uproar as he entered. “Who is this?” they asked. 11 And the crowds replied, “It’s Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.” [2]

Although Jesus had been ministering for three years, many still did not know Him. The last time the Bible records the city of Jerusalem was in an uproar was when the Wisemen came searching for the newborn king. (Matthew 2:3). Jesus is the Light of the World, and as He enters Jerusalem, His light shines in the darkness. Some will be drawn to Jesus and find eternal life, but others will sadly choose to turn away from Him.

You Can Tell Others About Jesus

I know several people who were lost spiritually until someone told them about Jesus. This led them to a relationship with Jesus, which changed their lives. Jesus had a message for His disciples as He ascended to heaven after His resurrection. Mark 16:15  He told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. 16 Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.[3]

Indeed, this seemed like an overwhelming responsibility for a few people, but they obeyed, and we can do the same. With whom is the Lord asking you to share the good news? With the Lord’s help, all of us can be the Lord’s evangelists.
