The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Moving of the Spirit in the last days is what many Old Testament people longed for. The prophet Joel had prophesied that the Lord would pour out his Spirit in the last days. And now, on the day of Pentecost, those words were fulfilled.

Today, we are fortunate to live in the New Testament era, where God has poured out the Holy Spirit on every believer. Few things changed humankind as much as the moving of the Holy Spirit, and we are part of it. God is always doing something new, and the Holy Spirit has forever changed the dynamic in the ongoing spiritual battle on earth.

The Prophet Joel Prophesies the Coming of the Holy Spirit

In the last days, the Lord would do something supernatural that would cause many people to place their faith in Jesus. These believers would spread the good news of Jesus all over the earth and help carry out the great commission. Acts 2:17 ‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. 18 In those days, I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants—men and women alike— and they will prophesy. [1]

The Lord may have given you the gift of dreams or visions. Like all blessings from the Lord, these are meant to build us and others up in the body of Christ. I may not have had a dream or vision, but I probably have been affected positively by someone who has. My mother had a vision of heaven that reassured her shortly after her mother died, and she never had another one. However the Lord chooses to bless His children, we are thankful the Holy Spirit blesses all believers.

Moving of the Spirit in Your Life

The Holy Spirit wants to transform your life! We live in a fantastic time because we can experience things people only dreamed about because of the work of the Holy Spirit. In the Old Testament, only a few people were prophets. In the New Testament era, the Spirit gives all believers various degrees of the ability to prophesy.

In addition, we can pray and ask the Lord to provide us with dreams. The book of Acts is full of ordinary people operating in spiritual gifts to encourage and bless others. We, like the people in the book of Acts, have one thing in common: we have the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit moves in our life and gives us dreams and visions from God. The Holy Spirit opens our hearts to hear the voice of the Lord better and moves in our lives to transform us and impact others.
