Only Jesus can fill our spiritual void. Many people try to fill themselves with the things of this world and find they are empty and without purpose. Do you feel a sense of emptiness, or are you looking for something to fill a hole in your life? God’s word tells us that He created us to fulfill a plan and purpose for our life. Isaiah 43:7 Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them.
The Lord made you for His glory, which means you are important to Him. We are in a tremendous spiritual battle; without the Lord working in our lives, we can become disorientated.
People sometimes use drugs or other things to numb the pain and escape problems and pressures. Jesus tells us about the pressures of this world. John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart because I have overcome the world If you are struggling today, turn to Jesus, who is waiting to hear your prayers and walk with you through the struggles of life. Our problems may not go away, but when Jesus walks with us, it changes our outlook on life.
Many People are Searching
Paul ministered to the people of Athens almost 2000 years ago, but their problems are still here today. Like many people today, they were searching. Acts 17: 22 So Paul, standing before the council, addressed them as follows: “Men of Athens, I notice that you are very religious in every way, 23 for as I was walking along I saw your many shrines. And one of your altars had this inscription on it: ‘To an Unknown God.’ This God, whom you worship without knowing, is the one I’m telling you about.
The Lord created each person with a hole in their heart that can only be filled by having a relationship with Him. The people of Athens sensed this emptiness in their hearts as they pursued other gods, but it did not work, so they made an idol to the unknown god. In God’s mercy, He sent the Apostle Paul, who would tell them the unknown god they were searching for was Jesus, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
The Lord Gives Us Hope
Paul tells us that we will not be disappointed when we ask Jesus into our hearts to be our Lord and Savior. Romans 5:5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. The way the Lord fills our empty vessels is to pour His love into our empty hearts and fills them with love, hope, and peace. Nothing in the world can transform our hearts like having a relationship with Jesus.
