The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

As people, we are all given roles in responsibilities as life unfolds, such as husband, wife, employee, student, police officer, etc. God has given us the responsibility to be ambassadors for Christ. Usually, we think of ambassadors in a political sense.

As an ambassador, you must faithfully represent the nation you serve and its views, which may not be your own. That nation trusts you and your character when chosen as an ambassador. Paul clarifies that Jesus has called us to be ambassadors. 2 Corinthians 5:20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God![1] Wow, Jesus chose you to be an ambassador to represent Him to others!

We Need the Lord’s Help to Be Good Ambassadors.

Meditating about being an ambassador for Christ makes me look at myself and how I represent Jesus to others. As people, we often fall short and need the Lord’s forgiveness and the power of His Holy Spirit to be the ambassador the Lord would like us to be. How can I better represent Jesus in public, participating in social media, or interacting with friends and family? As we pray and ask the Lord to mold and shape us, we may be surprised by how the Lord changes our life.

Ambassadors Think About Others

As ambassadors for Jesus, we must be about His mission in the world, building the Kingdom. As we go out, we will encounter people who don’t know Jesus. Part of the Lord’s call on our life is humbly conveying the good news of Jesus so others can come to know Him and be reconciled. God gives every believer the opportunity to be His hands and feet to tell people about Jesus.

When people come to faith, Jesus reconciles us with the Father. When reconciling with someone, we go from their enemy to their friend. The Bible tells us that every person begins life with a broken relationship with God because of their sins. The good news is that this relationship has reconciled through Christ.

When Jesus died on the cross, He became the bridge between our heavenly Father and us. John 3:16 For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. [2] As the Holy Spirit leads us, we can carry out the Great Commission and bring the good news of Jesus to the ends of the earth, imploring people to reconcile to God.
