Experiencing God’s peace can be life-changing. Some people spend their adult lives searching for peace only found in a relationship with Jesus as their Savior. When I know Jesus as my Savior, I can have peace in the storms of life and the good times. Philippians 4:6Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. [1]
You may be experiencing a storm in life, and the Lord calls you to trust Him no matter what is happening around you. The peace the Lord gives us is supernatural and unexplainable by the world.
God Gives Peace to Those Who Please Him
How do we please God? Hebrews 11:6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. [2]
When the angel announced the birth of Jesus, he also told them that God gives peace to those He is pleased with. Luke 2:14 Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased. [3] When we become people of faith, the Holy Spirit comes and lives in us, so there is a direct connection between faith and the peace God brings.
Jesus tells us about His peace. John 14:27 I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.[4] You may not have realized that peace is a gift the Lord gives His children. What a fantastic gift!
God Did Not Design Us to Carry the Weight of the World
Do you feel you are carrying the world’s weight on your shoulders? If you do, you don’t have to carry it alone. As believers in Jesus, the good shepherd takes the burdens we can’t handle. Jesus explains. Matthew 11:24 Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light. [5]
There is unexplainable peace when we let go of burdens and give them to the Lord. To come to the Lord is to humble yourself, which is not always easy. We sometimes think we can tough it out until we collapse under our burden. Take the Lord’s hand, let Him take your burden, and give you His peace.
