The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Praise God for what He has done. This is a repeated theme in the Bible. There is something about praising God that is uplifting. Psalm 9:1. I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done.[1]

When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the shepherds returned to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them. [2] Luke 2:20. As the Shepherds returned to watch over their flocks, they were so filled with joy and gratitude toward God that they returned home praising the Lord for what had happened.

Another example of praise was on Psalm Sunday when Jesus traveled through Jerusalem riding on a donkey. John 12:12A large crowd of Passover visitors 13 took palm branches and went down the road to meet him. They shouted, “Praise God! Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hail to the King of Israel!” [3]

We Can Praise the Lord

As believers in Jesus, we can also lift our voices in praise to the Lord. Our Savior gave His life for us on the cross at Calvary and deserves our praise for what He has done. We can decide to praise the Lord no matter the circumstances we face. In our last hour, we can still praise the Lord for eternal life and heaven that awaits us. As we do, we are lifted up as we focus on the Lord.

If we are in a season of great blessings, we can praise the Lord and give Him our bounty. Unfortunately, it is not always easy to praise the Lord, especially in life’s difficulties, but we can do so with His help. We are blessed to praise God because He deserves it and calls us to praise Him.

The Lord Saved the Jews

In the days of Queen Esther, the Lord intervened on behalf of the Jews and saved them from destruction by an evil leader in the Persian Empire. The king had been deceived into authorizing a decree to kill the Jews but later issued a second decree allowing them to defend themselves against their enemies.

Esther 8:15bAnd the people of Susa celebrated the new decree. 16 The Jews were filled with joy and gladness and were honored everywhere. 17 In every province and city, wherever the king’s decree arrived, the Jews rejoiced and had a great celebration and declared a public festival and holiday.[4] The lives of Jews had been spared, and they rejoiced because of what the Lord had done. What was impossible for man to do, God did.

As we think of Jesus, the Lord did what we could not do when He gave His life to save us from hell. No matter our circumstances, we can be forever thankful and full of praise for what Jesus has done for us. Praise God for what He has done! To learn more, listen here:
