In our story of Elijah from 1 Kings 18:38 – 39 God intervenes in a dramatic style. The Lord God sends fire down from heaven to consume the sacrifice, the wood, and the stones, and even licked up the water in the trench. The people then call out “The Lord is God.”
The longer I have journeyed through life, the more I have become aware that the Lord is a God of intervention. God is like a Doctor who knows what type of intervention we need to help us to accomplish His plan for our life. The Lord is like a loving parent who is always guiding His children so they can be spiritually successful in life.
The Lord tells us in Ephesians 2:8-10, God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Stop to ponder, God has a plan for you. He will also communicate this plan to you. The world in which we live tells us to do our own thing and plan our own life apart from God. The bad news about this advice is living a life apart from God is not very fulfilling and is spiritually destructive.
Do you wonder if God has a plan for your life? Take time today and ask God in prayer and see how God will reveal himself. As you read this, the Lord may be prompting you to turn to the Gospels. These are the story of Jesus where He wants to speak directly to you through His word. God is a great surgeon and He is already at work on your heart.
