In the fourth chapter of Jonah, Jonah describes the Lord being filled with unfailing love. What does unfailing love look like in the story of Jonah? The Lord sends Jonah to the Nineveh to tell them about impending judgment if they don’t turn from their wicked ways. As Jonah preaches the message to the people, they turn away from their sin. God had gone before Jonah and softened people’s hearts. When they were confronted with the truth of their circumstances, they turned toward God. Wow, that is so amazing when you think about it.
We live in a world that is not always loving. Maybe you have been on the receiving end of not being loved. This is the brokenness of this world, but the good news is there is someone who loves you more than you can imagine. His name is Jesus. We read in John 3:16“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
On the cross, all of our sins were poured out upon Jesus, including the times when others were not loving towards us or we to others. No one can imagine the pain our sins caused Jesus, but that did not stop Him from giving His life for us. That is love in action.
Our Lord loves us so much that He gave His life for us so we could be called to faith. His work on the cross allows us to enter into a loving relationship with Him. Take time today to think about how much the Lord loves you and how you are always in His thoughts. If you have never asked Jesus into your heart, He is calling you today! Trust the Lord and come to him. He loves you and wants to transform your life.
