Imagine for a moment you are observing the story of the of the Lost Son and able to see both the natural and spiritual realms. In our story the youngest son believes the lies of satan and the world. His own sinful nature is not aware of the enemy or the danger of his self-centered decisions. The enemy tempts the young man into thinking he does not need his family. He only needs their money. He thinks it is then that he will have true freedom and happiness.
As you read Luke 15:11-16, the young man falls into the trap before realizing what a mess he was in. 11 To illustrate the point further, Jesus told them this story: “A man had two sons. 12 The younger son told his father, ‘I want my share of your estate now before you die.’ So his father agreed to divide his wealth between his sons. 13 “A few days later this younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a distant land, and there he wasted all his money in wild living. 14 About the time his money ran out, a great famine swept over the land, and he began to starve.[1]
While the young man was making bad decisions, the Divine Intruder was about to make the next move. All through our lives we may not realize our Lord is at work. You may not be aware of how much He loves you even when you make poor decisions.
Our Lord hates sin, but he also loves sinners as we read in Mark 2″15-17 Later, Levi invited Jesus and his disciples to his home as dinner guests, along with many tax collectors and other disreputable sinners. (There were many people of this kind among Jesus’ followers.) 16 But when the teachers of religious law who were Pharisees saw him eating with tax collectors and other sinners, they asked his disciples, “Why does he eat with such scum?” 17 When Jesus heard this, he told them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”
Do you need a spiritual doctor today? Do you feel the Lord calling you to make some changes in your life? Cry out to the Lord in prayer and ask Him to help you. You will be surprised by what happens next.
