Is God Trying to Stir Your Heart? - iBelieve Truth: A ...

Have you ever cooked something that required some stirring? Stirring usually takes time and when God’s Holy Spirit stirs in us it also takes time. What happens when the Holy Spirit stirs in your heart?

Sometimes I like to think of the Lord as an amazing cook who is stirring up new things in our life to transform us. A cook is the one who does the stirring. It is the cook who takes the action. As the Lord stirs our hearts through the power of the Holy Spirit, He acts like a divine intruder. He interrupts our lives for His purposes. What does this tell you about the Lord’s interest in you as a person?

The Holy Spirit Stirred in the Heart of Samson

While Samson was a young man the Holy Spirit began to work in his life. God desired the best for Samson and wanted to fulfill the plans He had for him. God’s divine intervention in the life of Samson demonstrates who God is.

Judges 13:24 When her son was born, she named him Samson. And the Lord blessed him as he grew up. 25 And the Spirit of the Lord began to stir him while he lived in Mahaneh-dan, which is located between the towns of Zorah and Eshtaol. [1]

Why would the Holy Spirit stir in the heart of Samson? God had a special plan for Samson just like He has for you. For God’s plan to unfold in the life of Samson He would have to do the stirring.

The Holy Spirit Stirs in Our Hearts

Can you think of a time when the Holy Spirit stirred in your heart? How did the Holy Spirit lead you to faith? How has conviction of sin by the Holy Spirit kept you on God’s path for your life? The Bible tells us that without the conviction of sin by the Holy Spirit we would not realize our need for forgiveness and need for a Savior.

Perhaps you have not come to faith yet, but today the Holy Spirit is stirring in your heart. The Lord is showing you there is more to life than this brief existence. Today the Lord maybe urging you to call on Him to be your personal Lord and Savior.

Holy Spirit, our Comforter, and our Friend, as we stand on Your Word, we ask that You rain down on us. Let Your power fall on us and change our hearts. Open heaven wide and pour out the rain of Your Holy Spirit over our church and our lives. Change us, renew us, empower us. We need Your touch again. Precious gift from heaven, send us Your cleansing rain. Amen.[2]
