Why is meditating on the words, “The Lord is with you” so powerful? As we journey through life satan will tell us, God does not care about you and He has abandoned you. This is a tactic the enemy uses repeatedly because he knows if he can discourage you, he can slow down or prevent what God wants to do in your life.
The knowledge of God’s presence is so important that they were the last words that Jesus spoke to the disciples before He ascended into heaven. Jesus wants us to know with absolute certainty that we are not alone.
Matthew 28:18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” [1]
Caleb Knew God was With Him
Caleb was one of the twelve spies who came back with a good report telling the people that they could take the promised land, because God was with them.
Numbers 14:6 Two of the men who had explored the land, Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, tore their clothing. 7 They said to all the people of Israel, “The land we traveled through and explored is a wonderful land! 8 And if the LORD is pleased with us, he will bring us safely into that land and give it to us. It is a rich land flowing with milk and honey. 9 Do not rebel against the LORD, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land. They are only helpless prey to us! They have no protection, but the LORD is with us! Don’t be afraid of them!” [2]
God Wants You to Live Out “The Lord is with you”
When you are in a difficult situation mediate on “The Lord is with me.” The Lord is not only with me, but Paul writes in Romans 8:39“If God is for us, who can be against us?”[3] As we live this out, the Lord will help you be an overcomer and become like Caleb.
