The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Ruth 1:16 | Scriptures and Spiritual Messages Worth ...

Who passed the faith on to you? Was it a parent, a friend, a teacher, or maybe a stranger you met in your life? No matter who it was, they were passing on the faith.

One of my friends came to faith after someone shared the faith with him at a truck stop. The Lord uses different people throughout the world each day to share the Good News of Jesus with others. How many people came to faith today because someone took the time to share the message of Jesus? There is no greater gift we will ever receive than the free gift of salvation.

Naomi Passes on the Faith to Ruth

Ruth had married into a Jewish family and it was obvious that she had learned the faith from them. There seems to have been an especially close relationship between Naomi and her daughter-in-law Ruth. Ruth had come from a culture that worshipped many other gods. Yet, Ruth is willing to leave her old religion behind.

As they begin their journey to Bethlehem, Naomi doesn’t make it easy for her daughters-in-law to remain with her. I think she knows that they will be leaving everything they’ve known, and the adjustment will be hard. Orpah turns back but Ruth continues with Naomi.

It is at this point the Scriptures give us insight into the spiritual life of Ruth. Ruth 1:15 “Look,” Naomi said to her, “your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods. You should do the same.” 16 But Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. [1]

Sharing Our Faith with Others

Who would the Lord like you to pass the faith on to? God has placed in you a certain place at a certain time to be Jesus with skin on. Begin with prayer asking the Lord to give you the wisdom, words, and courage who to share the gospel with. Take time in God’s word each week so the Lord can build up your faith, so His message is fresh in your heart. Remember God does the work as so don’t get discouraged if people don’t believe.

1 Corinthians 3:I (The Apostle Paul) planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. [2]
