Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Spiritual Blessings in Christ - First Baptist Church of ...

Have you counted your blessings from the Lord lately? Sometimes as we go through life, we are so busy we forget about how many blessings the Lord gives us each day. When we take time to thank the Lord for His many blessings it lifts our spirits because it reveals a God who cares for us in so many ways each day.

The Lord Blesses Boaz

In the book of Ruth one of the main characters is a farmer named Boaz who lives near Bethlehem. The Lord not only blessed him with a bountiful harvest of grain, but also the possibility of a wife known as Ruth. Ruth was a widow and had recently come from nearby Moab with her mother-in-law, Naomi, who was from Bethlehem. As the story unfolds, the Lord guides Ruth to glean grain from a field that is owned by Boaz. Boaz was kind and also a kinsman redeemer. A redeemer was a relative of the widow and was responsible for caring for and even marrying the widow of his relative.

Ruth 3:“I will do everything you say,” Ruth replied. So she went down to the threshing floor that night and followed the instructions of her mother-in-law. After Boaz had finished eating and drinking and was in good spirits, he lay down at the far end of the pile of grain and went to sleep. Then Ruth came quietly, uncovered his feet, and lay down. Around midnight Boaz suddenly woke up and turned over. He was surprised to find a woman lying at his feet! “Who are you?” he asked. “I am your servant Ruth,” she replied. “Spread the corner of your covering over me, for you are my family redeemer.” [1]

Spiritual Blessings from the Lord

The Lord blesses us with physical and spiritual blessings. The greatest blessing the Lord gives us is the gift of salvation we receive as believers in Jesus. The Apostle Paul writes about this. Ephesians 1:3All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.[2]

Prayer

Thank you, Lord, for all the blessings you have given me especially the gift of faith in Jesus as my Savior. Lord, help me to be a blessing to others.
